The ½ Mile Henley Swim is a fantastic open water challenge set in the River Thames at Temple Island Meadows during the Henley Swim Festival. Ideal for swimmers looking to progress beyond shorter distances, this scenic swim offers a taste of open water racing in a historic and picturesque setting, making it a great stepping stone for those aiming for longer events.

The water quality of the Thames at Henley is regularly monitored, and the river is known for its clean, flowing conditions. While the temperature can vary depending on recent weather, it typically ranges between 16-20°C in summer. Swimmers should be prepared for the natural feel of open water, including cooler temperatures compared to a pool.
Participants are not required to wear wetsuits, though they are recommended for younger or less experienced swimmers to provide warmth and buoyancy. A brightly colored swim cap is typically required for safety and visibility. The event is fully lifeguarded, ensuring all swimmers feel secure as they take on this short but exciting swim in the historic setting of Henley-on-Thames.
