The 4 Mile Henley Swim is a challenging open water race set in the River Thames at Temple Island Meadows during the Henley Swim Festival. This swim is perfect for those looking to test their endurance over a longer distance, offering a scenic and rewarding course along the historic river. With a mass start, participants will experience the thrill of open water racing in one of the UK’s most iconic swimming locations.

The water quality of the Thames at Henley is regularly monitored, and the river is known for its clean, flowing conditions. While the temperature can vary depending on recent weather, it typically ranges between 16-20°C in summer. Swimmers should be prepared for the natural feel of open water, including cooler temperatures compared to a pool.
Participants are not required to wear wetsuits, though they are recommended for younger or less experienced swimmers to provide warmth and buoyancy. A brightly colored swim cap is typically required for safety and visibility. The event is fully lifeguarded, ensuring all swimmers feel secure as they take on this short but exciting swim in the historic setting of Henley-on-Thames.
